I love this time of year! There is a freedom and spontaneity in the air that calls us out for adventure. That being said, you don’t want to be caught unprepared for these types of outings. I’ve learned, often the hard way, there are certain items I need to keep in the family vehicle. Or at least, in a bag by the door for a quick grab.
Here is a check list that I like to use when it comes to preparing for our possible family adventures.
Beach towels
Small cooler with waters
Pair of water shoes for all family members
Extra pair of clothes for all family members
A wet bag
Roll of toilet paper
Hand sanitizer (my favorite is a non-toxic one by Raise Them Well)
Band-Aids and small first-aid kit
Small canvas bag for toting finds from yard sales, fresh market goodies or library books
Snacks that won’t spoil in the heat of a car (ex: Gold Fish,Coconut sticks, Craisins, nuts)
Small pails and shovels
Notebook and pen
Wet wipes and diapers
Hiking backpack to put a little one in
A little bit of cash
Sunscreen and bug spray (I also use the clean choices from Raise Them Well)
Depending on the age of your kiddos and where you live, you may need less or more items. I have three littles ages 6, 4 and 1. So I need a bit more to take care of this age group. We live in the middle southeast, so summers are hot and humid. We have mountains, forests, beaches, creeks and lakes as daytrip options. My three tend to find a way to get soaking wet no matter where we end up. So I always plan for that. No one wants to ride home soaking wet or naked. LOL
Share with us what you would or do add to your summer go kits. Are there certain brands or types of items you prefer over others? Let’s help each other out by preparing for our summer spontaneous adventures. We’d also love to hear about your family adventures! What have you planned, often go for or places you just happened upon and loved?
